The Sound of Murder, by Cindy Brown

Sound of MurderAuthor Cindy Brown joins us in this episode of CrimeFiction.FM to discuss her new book, the second in her Ivy Meadows Mystery series, THE SOUND OF MURDER.

Show Notes

Cindy shares the background of her heroine, Ivy Meadows, a struggling actor, who combines a love of theater with a desire to work as a private investigator.

We discuss the storyline of THE SOUND OF MURDER, which is set in an Arizona retirement community.

Cindy shares her love of theater, both on the stage and in the audience. One of the fun aspects of her series is the behind the scenes look at local theater.

Since Cindy has a theater background she performs the first page of THE SOUND OF MURDER.  That opening page won third place in the 2013 international Words with Jam First Page contest, judged by the amazing Sue Grafton; and that award bumped her up from the slush pile to catch the eye of her now-editor Kendel Lynn at Henery Press.  (Note: I had to mute my microphone because I was laughing so hard while she was reading.)

Cindy explains her theater based release party in Portland Oregon, on October 8th, at O’Connors Vault in Portland.  (See her events page here for details.)

From the Publisher:

Cindy Brown

“The setting is irresistible, the mystery is twisty, and Ivy is as beguiling as ever, but what I really loved was the depth and complexity of painful human relationships right there in the middle of a sparkly caper. Roll on Ivy #3!” – Catriona McPherson, Anthony, Agatha and Macavity Award-Winning Author of The Day She Died

“It is not easy to combine humor and murder, but Cindy Brown does it effortlessly. Who else would think of combining The Sound of Music with Cabaret with a serial killer? The result is such fun.” – Rhys Bowen, New York Times Bestselling Author of Malice at the Palace
